He formed the Cheong Shing Tong (the flourishing virtue society) one of the societies aims was to return all deceased Chinese to their families. His body was disinterred in 1902 during another mass exhumation and placed on board the Ventnor for China. Choie Sew Hoy was the founder of (the Flourishing Virtue Society).This society was set up to return deceased Chinese to their homeland.
